FSCNY/CCANY VENDORS SHOW -- May 14,
2002

Paul Fazio, Deputy Superintendent of the New York State Banking Department, opened the 10th
Annual Conference and Vendors Show by addressing CCANY members during
breakfast. Fazio discussed the Banking Department’s actions following
September 11th and the importance of contingency plans. Located
just two blocks south of the World Trade Center, the Banking Department
was forced into an emergency location where it was able to continue
operations.

New York State Assemblyman John J. Faso, Assembly
Minority Leader and candidate for New York State Comptroller, greeted
CCANY members at the start of the General Membership Meeting. “Check
cashers are an integral part of our financial system,” Faso said.
“It’s vitally important for you [check cashers] to maintain good
relationships with the State Legislature and to be advocates for your
industry.”

CCANY honored JP Morgan Chase with the Vendor of the Year award for its
support of the check cashing industry. Pictured here is William Siegel,
board member of CCANY, and Peter Grassl, representing JP Morgan
Chase.

CCANY awarded scholarships to 17 New York City high
school seniors. Some of the winners are pictured here with CCANY board
members during the Vendor Show.
