Supporting Local Communities Where Our Customers Live and Work

FSCNY members have always taken great pride in being of, from and for the local communities where their stores are located.

FSCNY members employ approximately 4,000 New Yorkers. More than half of these hard-working people are women and a majority of them represent the minorities that live in the local community surrounding the local check cashing store. In fact,
it is one of the hallmark distinctions between our members’ stores and banks. Companies hire local people who speak the same language as its customers and are open extended hours to meet the needs of their customers.

In addition to hiring locally, members of FSCNY take great pride in giving back to their local communities. In fact, member companies support a wide array of organizations, such as:

§         Places of worship

§         Special Olympics

§         Local fire and police squads

§         Local public school systems

§         Community-based athletic teams and leagues

§         Community groups

§         Disease research and support groups

§         Homeless shelters

§         Food pantries

This support takes many forms, including providing financial support, volunteering, and organizing local activities and fundraisers.

In addition, FSCNY sponsors an annual scholarship program that recognizes and supports the region’s best and brightest young scholars, and mobilized NY's check cashing industry to raise funds for Haitian relief efforts after the devastating earthquake in 2010.
