Each year, the Scholarship Committee awards cash grants to outstanding high school seniors from public schools in NYC’s five boroughs and the surrounding counties. Through the Scholarship Program, FSCNY and MoneyGram International provide educational opportunities for young people - many of whom return to their communities and contribute to improving the quality of life for all New Yorkers. 
Students are selected based on academic achievement and leadership skills they demonstrate at school and in the community.  This year marks the 20th anniversary of the FSCNY/MoneyGram Scholarship Program during which time approximately $713,000 in scholarships have been awarded to help 310 deserving students attend Ivy League and other top-tier universities and colleges.
Eligibility/Criteria: Applicants will be considered based on the following criteria:
    • Academic achievement;
    • Demonstrated leadership in their school; and 
    • Demonstrated involvement in their community, contributing at least 50 valuable hours of volunteer service each year of high school.
The Awards: Several scholarships will be issued to selected recipients consisting of a one-time cash award to be applied towards the cost of their freshman year of study at an accredited two or four-year college or university.  The cash award for each of the selected winners will range between $2,000 and $7,500 based on the recommendations of the Selection Committee.
Important noticePrior treceivintheir scholarship awards all award recipients must provide an acceptance letter from the accreditecollege or university that they will be attending in the Fall 2016.
